Bambus Trinkhalme tragen zum Schadstoffausstoß bei?

Bamboo drinking straws contribute to pollutant emissions?

Similar to paper straws, bamboo straws are compostable and of course plastic-free. The bamboo plant provides an eye-catcher in the drink with its wood look. Bamboo is antibacterial and has water-repellent properties. The drinking straws are ideal for reuse because they do not mold and are odorless. They are made from organic material, making them an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic, steel or glass straws. They are available in different sizes so that you can choose between thinner ones, which are intended for soft drinks, for example, and thicker ones for cocktails, smoothies or the like. However, since bamboo does not grow in Europe, but mostly in Asian countries such as Indonesia, there is a long transport route. The plant usually comes to us from this region and is then processed further. The drinking straws promise pesticide-free cultivation and often advertise the 100% naturalness of the product. A bamboo drinking straw can be used several times. The drinking straws are considered relatively resistant. Cleaning is done with a small brush and must be done by hand. Unfortunately, most drinking straws are not dishwasher-safe because deformation can occur during the rinse cycle. The cleaning itself is also problematic, since the material absorbs a little liquid every time you drink it, which means that the drinking straw easily takes on the color of the drink. So there is an additional cleaning effort that you do not have with other plastic drinking straw alternatives. Another circumstance is that, due to the material, it is not possible to check whether the inside of the drinking straw has really become clean. Although the bamboo drinking straw is odorless, it has a bamboo taste that affects drinking pleasure. Even though it is a reusable product, it has a shorter useful life than some glass or metal straws. The average usage time is about 6 months to a few years. Although the bamboo alternative is significantly healthier than the plastic drinking straw, the degree of sustainability of the product remains debatable, even if no petroleum is used. In contrast to bamboo, we can use a by-product of apple juice production in the production of the SUPERHALM, the recycling of which gives us a great advantage. The use of residual materials helps to avoid unnecessary waste and helps us to approach the goal of a balanced climate balance, as other raw materials are spared. By using products from the surrounding area, we save on transport routes and thus avoid additional climate pollution. In this way we strive to protect our climate.
