One-way plastic ban July 2021 On July 3rd, 2021
the EU-wide single-use plastic ban will come into force! This means that single-use cutlery, crockery and straws will be banned throughout the EU from July 3rd next year. Disposable crockery is still necessary, especially in gastronomy and the hotel industry. Our SUPERSPOON, a sustainable, edible ice cream spoon, is the perfect alternative to spoons made of plastic or PLA.
What is our edible spoon made of?
We use renewable raw materials from Germany for our edible, sustainable spoon. One of them is apple pomace, a residue from apple juice production that would otherwise be thrown away in most cases. In this way we are doing our part to support the sustainable circular economy. In addition, rice and corn flour ensure the stability of our SUPERSPOONS, making it vegan, gluten-free and really tasty. Many customers see our edible spoon as a substitute for the waffle with ice cream or coffee. SUPERSPOON remains loosely stable for 5-7 scoops of ice cream, it is also wonderfully suitable for stirring coffee or for spooning milk froth. Our SUPERSPOON also cuts a fine figure in smoothie bowls or yoghurt. This makes it the ideal alternative to disposable spoons made of plastic, PLA or wood, which will become increasingly important with the upcoming plastic ban in 2021.

This ban on plastic calls for quick solutions. Many customers, especially in the catering and hotel sectors, appreciate more sustainable alternatives such as the SUPERSPOON. If our edible disposable spoon is not eaten, it can simply be disposed of in the organic waste. The SUPERSPOON is 100% compostable and fully complies with the ZERO WASTE principle. In this way, plastic and thus unnecessary waste can be easily avoided in gastronomy, the hotel industry and at home. In addition, the design specially designed and patented by our interdisciplinary research team is particularly stable and often lasts significantly longer than the ice cream or drink itself. This means that customers get a delicious snack with their ice cream or coffee.
