It's about time: single-use plastic products have been banned in the EU since July 3, 2021. These include drinking straws, stirrers and disposable tableware made of conventional plastic and bioplastic. The same applies to to-go beverage cups and disposable containers made of styrofoam. They are also no longer allowed to be produced and sold.
Why was it time for single-use plastic products to disappear from the market?
Our life is becoming more and more hectic. We have food delivered to our homes or eat on the go. It's quick and convenient. The negative side effect: We produce an incredible amount of waste. It is not uncommon for packaging to be thrown away carelessly or simply forgotten on the beach, in the park or at the rest stop. It then has to be collected on site or is sometimes blown directly into the river or the sea without a detour. Plastic parts are also lost on the way to landfills, incineration or recycling plants, end up in the oceans and have been causing devastating damage there for decades.
The fact is: around 85 percent of marine garbage consists solely of plastics. Once there, he is responsible for the agonizing deaths of many sea creatures. Thousands and thousands of animals perish miserably because plastic straws clog their respiratory organs or get caught in lost nets and strangle themselves in the dramatic struggle for survival. As if that weren't shocking enough, after a certain time the plastic waste begins to break down into all its individual parts. The end of the story: microplastics that end up in the stomachs of marine animals and end up on people's plates at the end of the day. A worrying cycle that needs to be broken so that our world is still worth living in for future generations.

The SUPERHALM from Wisefood - what's in our straw?

What is apple pomace?
Apple pomace is residue that occurs when apples are pressed . They are packed with fiber and over thirty different vitamins and trace elements. Valuable minerals such as vitamin E & A, zinc, magnesium, potassium, iron, phosphorus and calcium can also be found in apple pomace. This residual product is therefore an above-average source of energy. Did you know that apple pomace also has a positive effect on your intestinal flora?
