The drinking straw is designed for dimensional stability and engineered to remain rigid in drinks for longer: the sturdy paper features a water-based coating (free of PLA and PE) that prevents rapid softening. The specific duration of stability depends on the drink and its temperature. There are several ways to dispose of the paper straws: The straw is industrially compostable (DIN 13432:2000-12) and, according to the manufacturer, can be disposed of in the waste paper bin. Municipalities have different regulations regarding whether paper that has come into contact with food can be put in the waste paper bin – when in doubt, check your local waste disposal guidelines. The straw does not contain any PLA or PE coating.
