About us

We provide you with the sustainable and edible alternative to plastic dishes, straws and cutlery. All raw materials are carefully selected.

Wisefood's disposable edible tableware is probably the best alternative to products made of plastic, wood or paper. Due to the upcoming EU ban on plastic and bio-based plastics, demand is currently increasing very strongly.

Wisefood was launched in 2016 out of a student project. Since then, a successful crowdfunding campaign has been launched and several TV appearances with an audience of millions have been made. Wisefood's products have been sold in over 5000 branches and exported to over 20 countries around the world.

What are the shells made of?

Our shells are made from 100% wheat bran. Therefore you can even nibble on the husk after enjoying your meal. However, the consumption of the husks is not the most important thing. Wheat bran is also a by-product of the food industry. Our bowls are therefore a sustainable and sensible alternative to plastic plates, even if they are not eaten.

Where are the shells produced?

The trays are produced in Europe under the highest quality standards.

Do the bowls have a MHD and how long is this?

Our bowls have a shelf life of 36 months from production. We use the edible shells even after many days in the opened state - if you store it dry and protected from light, the product lasts very long.

How long are the shells stable?

The bowls are stable for a long time and are particularly suitable for salads, bowls, snacks or for grilling. Using the bowls for soups is not recommended. So you can enjoy your meal in peace and quiet and then compost your bowl or nibble on it.

Are the shells more sustainable than other alternatives?

Absolutely! Our trays are made of 100% sustainable raw materials. Furthermore, wheat bran is a waste product that is produced during the processing of wheat into flour. This means that they can be composted in your garden and are completely decomposed after 30 days.
